Now with the advent of vaccinations, how do you see its impact on the market for face masks?
Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, people has been following safety norms including social distancing and wearing face masks whenever stepping out in public. Thus, businesses across the sector switched to manufacturing PPE equipment to survive the pandemic blues. With the news of the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out, people are now hoping that they can finally get rid of the mask once they get vaccinated. So the question arises what will happen to the face mask market?
Well, wearing a mask continues to be important along with other Covid-19 safety protocols even if you get vaccinated. Though vaccines are considered highly effective, there is no guarantee mentioned anywhere that a vaccinated person will not transmit the virus to another person. There are many people who are asymptomatic and do not possess any symptom but virus is present in their nasal passage. When they breathe, cough or sneeze, chances are very high that they transmit infectious viruses to other people. Also, one has to wait for 3 weeks to get the second shot of the Covid-19 vaccine. As vaccine rollout begins with plans to vaccinate as many people as possible, the fact of the matter is that not enough doses to vaccinate all populations exist till now. Thus, many people think that once they get vaccinated, they don’t need a mask. But it is important for them to note that masks are here to stay, because they could still be contagious.
Though WHO and doctors have urged the continuation of masks, but how do you find public acceptance ?
Initially when Covid-19 virus outreached, people were not much familiar with the importance of the face mask. But with WHO and doctors’ advice people realised the importance of wearing a right mask and widely accepted it. Here I want to credit mass media for imparting right information to the public on why it is more and more important to wear masks for your own self and to protect others around you.
As people are adopting the #New Normal; mask is not only a safety gear but has become an integral part of our lives. According to me public around the world has accepted the mask trend with the existence of the new strains, flues and pollution at large. The strict rules and regulations & high chalaans by the government also played a massive role in the acceptance of face masks by the society.
